HOME!

This past weekend Marci and I were able to go home and crown this year's Apple Blossom Royalty.
We left Provo at about 1 with my grandparents.  They took us to the SLC airport. I don't know what the other people thought of us on the plane but we were pretty excited to get home. While we were waiting in Seattle for our plane to take us to Spokane, we met a lady from Entiat. She knew the Websters and dad. We couldn't really remember her name so dad didn't know if he knew her too. We finally made it to Spokane where dad picked us up to go home.
It was so good to finally be home, even if mom was too tired to clean the bed off for me so I had to sleep on the couch. I love our couch so I was perfectly fine.  I have had a cough this past week and Friday night I could not stop coughing. I felt so bad because I thought I keeping up my parents, which was probably true.  Dad left at like 6 am to go somewhere and brought me back a butt load of meds and orange juice.
I had a hair appointment with Amber Moore at one.  When I got there Bronte was leaving and Marci was just getting her hair started pretty much.  I missed getting my hair done all the time... Kels had an appointment after me so I got to catch up with her, too.
Selection was at seven so mom and I headed up at 5:45. I forgot how much little girls get excited when they see a princess. AH! I am going to miss that.... Lydia is always my favorite to see because she freaks out and drops her jaw. Even though it is just her cousin with  a lot of make up on..
All the girls did really well and they looked gorgeous!  end result was Princess Marlene, Princess Bronte (WOO!!!) and Queen Alejandra.  they should have a lot of fun.It was kind of sad to give up being a princess but this past year was awesome.
Here are my last pictures as a princess...

This morning dad was nice enough to drive Marci and I to Spokane at 6 am for our flight. We thought we saw UW's basketball team because these tall guys were walking around in the airport and were wearing purple and gold with big Ws on their shirts.  When we got to our gate we saw that we would be on the same flight as them and we ended up sitting next to one of the coaches. I asked the coach where they were going to go play and he said they played against Lewis and Clark and are heading back down to SLC. I was really confused at this point then read his t shirt... "Westminster College." I felt stupid.
Marci's sister Casey picked us up from the airport. I tried to take a nap but I think Marissa always knows when I am because she ALWAYS calls when I am trying to sleep.... We had dinner at Marissa's with Joel and Nick. Now I am ready to fall asleep for the night and it is barely 8:40.

A Little Less Stressed

Today in my Human Development class we watched a film about Romania's orphanages.  It was really disturbing to watch but it showed how horrible conditions are there. The leader of Romania wanted to increase the population so couples that had less than five children are taxed heavily so a lot of them have to give their children up to the orphanages. The orphanages are understaffed and the workers don't have any more than a fourth grade education.  They have no idea how to treat the children.

There are a lot of volunteers that go over to help but still, there aren't enough helpers.  The ones that do go over to help aren't allowed to give the kids too much attention because when they leave they don't want the children to be used to the attention. It is so hard for me to accept that because in this class we just went over how important it is to have human physical contact. There are ten and eleven year olds that look like three year olds. They are fed through a bottle still and rarely leave their crib.

Going to different countries helping in orphanages and such has always been something I wanted to do.  After watching this video it just made me want to do it so much more.  In my Nursing 180 class our next assignment is to look at different places where we can specialize in with our degree.  We get to choose three to research. guess what one of mine will be? Yes, traveling nurse.  I want to know what it is all about. Even if it just for a little or just one trip, I want to do it.

Thinking about his has really put my mind back on track.  I have had many melt downs about college and the stress of getting in somewhere.  But I know I will go where I need to and do what I am supposed to go.  This video just made me realize that I really do want to help people and the education I get is more for them and not me...

Trying to Figure Out Life.

I have been thinking and stressing out about getting into BYU's Nursing program so I have been looking into UVU.  My plan right now is to get the pre reqs done for BYU (all I have left is Chem 285 after this semester) and UVU (I have to retake Chem 101 and take Psych 202 and McBio 221), apply for BYU's program for next winter (2011).  If I don't get in I will apply again for the next fall (2011), finish up UVU's pre reqs and apply for UVU for that same fall.  Hopefully I will get into one of the two programs. I will be looking into other schools just in case I don't get into either of these two.
If none of that made sense, I'm sorry.

Tubing Weekend

Saturday was one of the longest days of my life...
It started at 5:45am when I woke up to get ready to go tubing with my roommate's cousin, Connor.  (I didn't get to bed until about 2..) His work rented out the hill so he took me and we went up with his sister in law and her friend.  We were up at Soldier Hollow until about 10:30 and headed back down to Provo.
I had to get back to coach my Jr. Jazz team.  We had pictures at 12:40 and I didn't get back until 12 so I thought I had time to take a quick nap.... But of course Marissa called me 2 minutes into my 10 minute nap. She picked me up and dropped me off at the middle school where my girls play.  She was nice enough to go get some snacks for my team because the first time I was a bad coach and forgot I was supposed to bring treats.  We finally got all the girls there to take a picture then start our game.  The team we played reminded me of Kittitas... As much as I wanted my girls to go plow the other team over I had to be the good coach.  The girls said they still had fun so I guess that is all that matters.
After my game we headed to the BYU Men's basketball game where I was super tired. We were able to get TJ down in the student section to sit with us.

After the game I had a second birthday party.  Marissa, Nick, Mary Vanderholm, Kyle Richardson, one of my friends from my ward (Sydney Welch) and I went to FatCats to go bowling.  And like always... it was really fun.

After bowling we headed out to IHOP.  It was hilarious and I felt bad for our waitress.. Marissa almost killed me and Nick had something up with his nose... haha

On Monday Ky and I went back up to Soldier Hollow (she had never done anything in the snow before!) She said she enjoyed it and I had fun going again.

That night was FHE, my first FHE being a mom... and barely anyone showed! haha Hopefully more people come when it isn't a holiday weekend. We'll see...

19th Birthday Cont.

Okay, so Marissa got mad that I failed to mention the trick candles she got me... They were sparking at me and when I tried to blow them out, of course they would light back up. I had to put them in water to make them go out. Ha ha THANK YOU MARISSA FOR THE TRICK CANDLES!!!

Also, I wanted to include the bear and flowers that my parents sent me. They are yellow roses, which I absolutely love!! I am trying to find a plate to put them on.

I got a package yesterday with lots of fun stuff.  My parents sent me scrapbooking stuff and really cute Minnie and Mickey hot pads.

Thank you mom and dad!!

19th Birthday!

In the morning I woke up to my roommate KyLeigh asking if I liked pancakes. When I walked out of my room her and Sydney had hung a "Happy Birthday" sign on our wall and Ky was starting breakfast. It was the first time she had ever made pancakes without her dad's help and they turned out really good.

When I got back from class I saw a teddy bear with flowers from my mom and dad with a cute little card with it.  I then went to put my backpack in my room and saw that Marissa had bought me 19 super cute balloons and my roommates had decorated my room with streamers and balloons.

We went to Olive Garden for dinner. Marissa decorated my birthday cheesecake.

I got some pretty cool stuff that included an Xpress Redi Set Go!  I am really excited about it..

After dinner I went home and Kelly (my summer roommate) and Taylor came by with some cake, balloons and a present.

While they were over my FHE husband stopped by with some cookies...

We had to scrape them off... ha
It was a really awesome birthday. Thanks for everything everyone!

Shooting with Dad

One of the things I wanted to do while at home was to go shooting with my dad.  We headed up with Marissa on Saturday to Top Shelf.  We got all the way up there, set up the targets... then my dad asks me where the bullets were. I didn't have any bullets. So we had to go back home and get them.  We finally got to the fun part and I was first to shoot.  The shells kept hitting me in the face and getting caught in my hair though. It was a lot of fun. Thanks, Dad!
P.S..... Marissa and I got a little bored while dad looked for the bullets/guns.

Going From 2009 to 2010

This year has been a very eventful one for me...
I turned 18.  We had a Rock Band party and tons of food. Everyone left saying they had a good time. Marissa helped organize it and made sure I had my own little birthday crown, it even had flashing lights on it. Alli's mom made my birthday cake for me which later for smashed up my nose along with a candle because my friends thought it would be funny to smash my face in it... three times.

In February, I tore my ACL... Ya, that was a bummer.

I got to wear a brace for it that was the length of my leg and later Nick's old one that was a lot more convenient.  I wore the little brace until my surgery in May.

I tried out for Manson Apple Blossom, and was selected Princess along with Marci Nelson. Kelsey Harding for Queen.  Our escorts were Osbaldo Escoto (mine), Pedro Magana (Marci's), and Graham Thomas (Kelsey's).This kept our schedules busy the rest of our senior year.  We visited random clubs, guilds, meetings and parades.  It was a ton of fun and I am happy I didn't take my parents's $500 offer to not do it.  The 30th of this month is Apple Blossom selection and I am not exciting to give it up.  I tried on my dress though and it fits! So I just have to stay this size for another month and I will be fine.

The blankets were made by Aunt Alice. I have slept with mine everyday while at college.

Also in February I found out that I was accepted to BYU Provo, like I wanted.  But... I had to start in the summer (2 weeks after grad) or wait until winter. I chose Summer....

I graduated in June.  The week of graduation I found out that I was awarded the Marine Scholar Athlete and the Army Student Athlete along with many other scholarships.  On graduation I found out that I was also awarded the Mel Steele Award and Scholarship, which I was really happy to be given.

This is at our senior awards night... longest one I have ever been to.. We got just a little bored.

I then drove down to Provo, UT with my parents to go to school.  Nick showed me around campus and gave me his "tips."  I guess they helped because I made it through my first semester.

I then headed home for a couple weeks before going back down for Fall semester. I was in a bowling class with Nick, was part of the biggest game of capture the flag every reported, I was on the winning team of the biggest game of capture the flag ever recorded, moved to Wyview where I could have a kitchen, had Bronte visit and lots more that I don't feel like typing right now...

I finished this year with volunteering for a coaching position for Jr. Jazz.  I am coaching 3rd and 4th grade girls and so far things are going good.

We held a New Years party here. We had Rock Band (I just noticed that I started the year with Rock Band and ended with it..) and Wii going. Marissa forgot about breakfast at midnight until almost everyone was gone. It was a really fun party.

Thank you to my mom and dad for putting up with me and especially everything with my knee and Apple Blossom.

For 2010, I am going to be busy with school, work, applying for the nursing program at BYU... I am planning on getting another job along with my waitressing job at Lake Chelan Winery and I also want to do some volunteer work at the hospital.  I am excited to be home for summer because summer 09 was just a little too hard to be away..

Happy New Year!
