Our Four Day Hiking Adventure!

Monday afternoon Riss and I got dropped off up in Winthrop at our campground. We got everything set up and decided to go on a walk to the nice little river. While we were stopping just enjoying the view, I feel a tickling on my neck. I thought it was a misquito... It was a spider! And when I hit it away it went down my shirt... All the preparing I did for myself to be ready and okay with all the spiders went out the window. Great way to start our four day hiking/camping/coming of age trip!

She was trying to be like Pocahontas..

Day 1 campsite: Lone Fir!

Dad sent us up with bandbooster hamburgers and we warmed them up on a mini stove that Travis let us borrow... First night dinner was rough!

Cards... We played a lot!

We only had one spoon. So Riss thought it was a cool idea to widdle our own cooking spoon! Mine was actually starting to look like a spoon. However, you would have probably gotten 50 splinters if you used it..

Thanks to Parker Bradshaw for picking us up and driving us to the trailhead! And to Linds and Travis for taking us up there in the first place :) Even though I don't know if you minded dropping us off in the middle of the woods with no cell service...

Our first crossing adventure since the bridge was destroyed.

After crossing a bunch of creeks and streams this bridge was kind of nice to have.

We made it across!

Cool picture

Second night dinner was a little cold a crunchy.. But it tasted delicious! Ravioli and top ramen!

We had dirt stuck in every pore in our legs that first day.. Super gross haha

Day 2 campsite. So pretty and perfect!

On our way to hike the last 5 miles of our 17 mile hike (we went from Winthrop to High Bridge)!

We made it!!

We missed the 9am shuttle by twenty minutes. If we would have known that the last part would only take a couple hours, we would have tried to do it in one day. But, it worked out just fine :)

While on the shuttle we met a man who just flew in who was doing an aerial adventure. He was from San Jose, California and he had already made stops in Oregon (twice) and Olympia and was still going back to somewhere in Oregon and McCall, Idaho. Sounded like fun!

Rainbow Falls! It is GUSHING! So pretty!

 Traditional drink...

On the bottom is a little ship. So adorable!

Soaking our feet for a second time. It felt so good..

Dinner at Courney's! I meant to get a picture of the delicious pot roast and mashed potatoes... I was a little hungry and forgot.

And forgot again when we got our lemon cheesecake and strawberry rhubard pie. Ah it was so good!

If you wear a BYU shirt, you will be able to start a conversation with someone.. There was a whole family reunion of LDS families. Of course.. haha

The only wildlife we saw on the trip was two deer... Not really complaining because I would have been super freaked.

We go three days without cell service and the only contact we have to the outside world is a GPS that we weren't even sure worked. When we got to Stehekin the pickup wouldn't start. Seemed like a good excuse to hear our family's voice. When we told them we were alive and doing well we find out that the GPS did it fact work and our whole family had the access to see that we went to the bakery, Rainbow Falls and the fact that we passed the campsite we were supposed stay and stayed in a later one instead. It was comforting to know (even though it was after the fact) that even if the only other person that (we thought) knew we were at that campsite was a park ranger and we could have been killed and no one would have known we even stopped there... We were happy to know dad knew where we were the whole time.

This is also the first place we met our friends... Nameless but still friends! We think the husband's name was Bob. They were super nice. We saw them here, at Courney's, the bakery for breakfast, on the landing before we got on the boat (talked to them for about two hours waiting for it), while on the boat and after we got off. They were so nice! Also, they said their son uses the valet at the airport... We didn't even know that existed!

Day 3 campsite: The pickup! Harlequinn flooded so we decided to not bother with other campsites and stay in the pickup

We had a little extra baggage on the way home...

The Lady Express!

We are alive!!!

Thanks everyone for all the help and protecting :) It was a great trip! However, next time I would like to be in shape or ride a horse.
